About Isla Mujeres and Its Reefs

A popular day trip destination for travelers, Isla Mujeres is a small island located off the coast of Cancun. The island is worldwide known for its beautiful reefs, crystal-clear waters, and relaxed atmosphere, which make it the perfect spot for tourists seeking tranquility and nature.

About La Cadenita Reef

La Cadenita (the “little chain”) is a secluded and off-the-beaten-path reef with an extension of about 490 feet. Here, visitors can see a wide variety of coral species (such as fire coral, fan coral, staghorn coral, and sponge coral), as well as abundant marine life, including grunts, groupers, snappers, angel fish, and hogfish.

About El Farito

El Farito, also known as “Lighthouse Reef,” is a small reef located 5 minutes away on a boat from Isla Mujeres. The reef has a lighthouse emerging from the surface, hence the name. Visitors can also spot the Virgin of El Farito, a statue that was submerged in 1966 to protect fishermen.
